Pet Photography and Pork Schnitzle

Tuesday afternoon I had the pleasure of dining with Tanya Sharkey. Tanya owns Tanya Sharkey Photography on 4th Street in St. Petersburg. Our destination was Café Vienna located at 5625 – 4th Street North. It is located in a strip center and you have probably driven by it a thousand times and not realized it is there. I know I have.

Café Vienna is a quaint restaurant with great ambience. I was immediately greeted when I walked in the door and seated just as quickly. The service was wonderful. I ordered the jagerschnitzel and Tanya had a pork dish. (The daily special changes and I don’t know the name of it.) Mine was made with peppers and onions in an amazing sauce. The waitress pointed out that the sauces are made to order and that none of them are pre-made. That is nice to know that the sauces are not sitting around in bowls waiting to be used! We decided to split the Palatschike for dessert. “A crème topped with crème fraiche berry mix and chocolate sauce. A Vienna delicacy.” It was so yummy!!!!

I was a little concerned about taking the pictures of the food. I mean, Tanya is the “real” photographer! I just take pictures. We laughed about it and we both took pictures of the food. It must have been pretty funny for the other people in the restaurant to see us both taking pictures of our meals – exchanging dishes – and taking more photos!

Tanya’s loves pet photography. She is passionate about animals. Tanya has worked at veterinary clinics and currently volunteers with rescue groups. There will be a fundraiser for Pet Pals on July 31st and August 1st called Tails of Summer. $50.00 of each $99.00
Session will go to Pet Pals. Look for it on facebook!

We were discussing what type of pets she has photographed and of course there were dogs and cats, but she has also photographed chickens, birds, snakes, turtles, ferrets and has sessions scheduled for a hedgehog and chinchilla! People really take professional pictures of their chickens.

Tanya is a very fascinating woman. She started the “Friends of 4th Street St. Pete” on facebook in November and it quickly grew. She is also currently working on a new blog about all of her passions and is titled “The Perfectly Flawed Woman.” I will let you know the launch date!

Café Vienna is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:30am-2:00pm and dinner from 5:00pm-9:00pm. Dinner on Saturday is from 5:00-10:00pm. Large parties can be accommodated. If you’re looking for a great caterer, fresh food with great flavors, look no further. Café Vienna Catering offers catering for any type of event.

Follow Ester Venouzio and I to Emilio's in downtown St. Petersburg! I have heard wonderful things about this restaurant.
