Pete and Shorty's ~ flavor, fun and friends!

I've been looking forward to lunch today for about a week. I planned to meet a friend here for lunch and have thought about nothing else but tater tots for days!

Posted outside at the entrance is the special of the day.  I prefer to order food that I do not make at home when I go out to lunch.  I love to cook, therefore I like to find things on the menu that are not in my repertoire! Clubs are one of the things that I do not like to make at home. For some reason, I always make a mess of my entire kitchen! Therefore, I was quite excited to see a chicken club as the daily special.

Being in Pete and Shorty's is always fun. There are always people to watch and at least 14 televisions. And, good smells are always emanating from the kitchen.

My lunch partner decided to have the turkey avocado wrap. ($9.49)  Of course with tater tots. (Tater tots make everything better!)   We both ordered iced tea - although I must say we were both intrigued with the Sherbetini.  Sweet or unsweet tea are both available.

When my lunch was delivered, I was slightly disappointed. It looked fabulous, but it wasn't the "club" that I was expecting.   It was  not what I was thinking it would be.  (But, the blackened chicken paired with the bacon and cheese was fabulous! My mouth is watering hours later just thinking about it!)

Across the table, the wrap looked great! I probably should have waited until she unwrapped it so that you could see the beautiful spinach wrap, but alas, I didn't!

The total for lunch for 2 people with 2 iced teas was $26.66

There's a Lot of Flavor at the Little Greek

There are a lot of places more places to eat at the Bardmoor Promenade than I thought.  I knew there were a couple, but this place is chock-full of choices!

The Little Greek Restaurant is located on the north side of the strip center.
When you enter, proceed to the counter to place your order. Menus are on the wall to peruse while you wait to order.

The kitchen is wide open and everything is prepared right there in front of you.  Place your order and you are given a number.  A short time later, your meal will be delivered to your table.
Stop on the way to your table and fill your cup with whatever you want to drink.  Regular tea and sweet tea are both options.
We decided to start with the sampler platter.  When trying some place for the first time, I like to try a couple different things.
The appetizer platter is served with spinach pie, falafel, pita bread, hummus and tzatiki sauce ($7.99)

Both of us wanted a gyro pita ($6.49).  For an additional $2.99 you get fries and a soft drink, or for an extra $1.99 you get a side Greek salad.

The fries were really thin with the skins on. I thought I got a great picture of them, but sorry - it's not! They are delicious!
I could not wait to devour into my gyro filled with fresh lettuce, tomatoes and red onion.
Little Greek is open from 11am til 9pm daily.   This restaurant was very clean.  There are two very big bathrooms (1 men and 1 ladies).  The ladies room was very clean. (I didn't check the men's room). Clean bathrooms are very important! If the bathroom isn't clean, the kitchen probably isn't either!

There were several tables that could be pushed together to accommodate larger parties. There is a children's menu with prices ranging from $3.99 to $4.99.

In addition, catering is available. The little Greek has six locations in the Bay Area.  This one is located at 10801 Starkey Road in Largo. Additional questions, call 727-397-8300.

New Summer Menu Coming to a WingHouse Near You!

Disclaimer: As being part of the Tampa Bay Bloggers, I was given a free meal and gift card from The Winghouse as a exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

The WingHouse will be featuring a new summer menu starting on June 13th at all WingHouse locations. Tampa Bay Bloggers were invited to sample the fresh menu.
The taste started with pretzel bites. "Soft and chewy pretzel bites served with a Wisconsin cheese sauce and honey mustard." I liked that they give you two dipping sauces instead of making you decide which one you want.  I am horrible with decisions, anyway - this makes it easier!

Next up ~ pork nachos. "Crunchy tortilla chips topped with slow roasted bbq pork, jalapenos, diced tomatoes, shredded cabbage, cilantro lime cream sauce and Wisconsin cheese sauce."

The plate of nachos is gigantic and enough to be shared.  I think I could have polished off that plate alone though, as it was so tasty.  This tasty treat may have been my favorite item on the new menu.

Third on the list of new menu items is the chicken pasta salad. (Hand-cut all white meat chicken breast, blackened or fried, atop chilled rotini pasta, cucumbers and sprinkled with parmesan cheese.)

This was my least favorite, only because it needed some sort of dressing on it. It would have been quite good with perhaps a vinaigrette or possibly the delicious honey mustard that was served with the pretzel bites. It just needed a little something more.  That being said, the chicken was fantastic!

Now it's time for a taco salad! (Fresh lettuce topped with chili, cheese, diced tomato, fried jalapenos, tortilla chips and a cilantro lime cream sauce.)

I loved the fried jalapenos on this salad. Just give me a bowl of those and I am a happy girl!  I had a hard time adjusting to the cilantro lime cream sauce - as I am a sour cream and salsa die hard, but the flavors were really good and I would have happily eaten another bowl!

Two more things to sample and my belly is ready for more! Summer tacos are making their way to our table.  (Tacos stuffed with tender shrimp, fresh grilled chicken, or slow roasted bbq pork. Topped with cheddar cheese, shredded cabbage, diced tomato and cilantro lime cream sauce.)

These tacos were full of flavor. I enjoyed all three, but since you have to choose one of the three, I would pick the shrimp. Others at my table had different opinions, I guess it all boils down to personal preference.

The final item on the "Summer Sensations" menu is a pulled pork sandwich. (Shredded bbq pork piled high on a toasted Kaiser toll. Topped with coleslaw, crispy onion strings and drizzled with Dallas sauce. Served with a dill pickle and crunch chips.)

Looking back, this may have been my favorite item on the new menu! The pork was so moist and delicious and I love those crispy onion straws. Put those in a bowl with the fried jalapenos and I am in heaven!!

Once we were all done sampling our entrees, we were surprised with a guava cheesecake!  I wasn't too excited about it because I am not really a cheesecake person, but once I tasted it - I would've fought the table for their pieces of pie!  Shut the front door - THIS was the most fabulous thing on the new menu!!!

The new menu will be available starting on June 13th at all Winghouse locations.

A great time was had by all!  I especially enjoyed my dining companions for the evening. How can you not have fun when you are with The Famous Ashley Grant?!?

Chicago Beef in Largo at Bruce's Chicago Grill and Dog House

I have been here before, but it was a while ago and I forgot how busy it is!  When you enter the front door, there is a line waiting to order.  You better know what you want as this line moves fast!  I let three people go in front of me as I didn't know what to order. I asked each person what they were ordering as I let them move ahead. One man said to order the Chicago beef, the other said to get a hamburger, but the third man was very emphatic about ordering a loaded Chicago dog.  He told me three times to make sure that was what I ordered!

While reading the menu on the wall, I noticed a beef or sausage combo.  I asked the cashier about the beef or sausage combo. It seemed she was irritated that I was asking questions. She stated that the OR should say AND - both meats are on the sandwich.  I explained that I thought it meant that it came with fries or something. I asked if there was anything like that and she said, "NOPE."  (Remember this.)   I placed my order for a small Chicago beef (4 oz beef with sautéed sweet peppers & onions in Italian gravy $6.95), small French fries ($1.65) and a small fountain drink.  The total was $11.27.

I got my drink and sat down.  When you order is ready, they call your name and bring your food to the table.  As I waited (mere minutes) I noticed all of the condiments on the table. Anything you could need - and if not, there were more condiments by the drinks!
(on the table)

 (on the counter)
There is no shortage of memorabilia and things to see on all of the walls!

My food was delivered rather quickly!  But there was a TON of food!
There was no way possible that I could eat all of that food!!  Lucky for my husband as he got a bunch of leftovers.
I grabbed a paper menu on my way out to be more educated next time I go and know what to order! When I got home, I was reading through it when I noticed this section:
Perhaps it was because I asked for a combo and not a basket that I was informed "NOPE" no such thing existed. This would have been perfect for me - nonetheless my husband had lunch too and was very happy. I will just know next time to ask for the basket.

Bruce's Chicago Grill and Dog House is located at 7733 Ulmerton Road in Largo.  They are open Monday through Friday from 11-7 and Saturday from 11-4.
