German Fare in Largo at The Fireplace Restaurant

*****************CLOSED DUE TO FIRE**********
Driving down the road late this morning, we decided to try someplace new. I wanted breakfast, but hubby wanted lunch.  While we were driving down Seminole Boulevard, my husband saw the sign
and he turned in! Isn't he the sweetest?! I was a little concerned as (I thought) the owners were Greek, but the new owner has owned the restaurant since August, 2014.

I still wanted pancakes, but I knew if my husband had this wonderful lunch, I was going to hate my pancakes.  I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel and he ordered the Jager Schnitzel.  The special came with soup or salad and either spaetzle, red cabbage or potatoes. We both skipped the soup/salad and had two sides instead.  Before we knew it, the fresh bread was placed on the table!

The Fireplace Restaurant has been in the area for a long time. The new owner walked around checking and making sure everyone was served and happy with their food. (The main dining room was full, but I don't like taking pictures with people eating that I do not know.)
Our entrees were served and they were huge!!!  The Jager Schnitzel had a white mushroom gravy,

while my Weiner Schnitzel was served with lemon.  Although I asked for brown gravy on the side for my spaetzle.

Once we finished out meals (well, boxed them up and brought them home), we were given a choice of rice pudding, tapioca pudding, butterscotch or some other pudding.  I picked rice pudding!

The Fireplace Restaurant really does have a fireplace! I forgot to ask if it is a working fireplace, but it's too hot for that right now anyway.

There is an extensive menu with options ranging from salads to sandwiches to burgers.  Salad selections include Greek salad ($6.95), Chef's salad ($8.95), Village salad ($8.95) and more.  Sandwich selections are numerous, but include French dip ($6.95), Buffalo chicken sandwich ($6.95), and Reuben sandwich made with either corned beef or turkey ($6.95) Sandwiches are served with French fries or coleslaw - or upgrade to onion rings for $1.00.

The Fireplace Restaurant is located at 12580 Seminole Boulevard in Largo.  They are open 6 days from 7am til 8pm (kitchen closes at 7:30) and on Sundays through the summer they are open from 7am until 2pm (kitchen closes at 1:30.)

There are 4 tables in the main dining room that can be put together to accommodate a large group. A children's menu is available to anyone under the age of 10.

If you have any questions, they can be reached at 727-585-4094.  Tell them Tampa Bay Afternoon Delight sent you!
